The Coat Edit

5 Creatives, 5 Coats

A great coat is more than just a layer for colder days. It's often the piece that defines your wardrobe for the season. We invited five creatives and long-time lovers of Alpha60 to select their coat of the season, sharing what drew them to each style and how they wear it in their everyday lives. From exhibition opening nights and studio visits to daily commutes and weekend outings, discover the outerwear pieces they'll be reaching for all winter, along with the thoughtful details, silhouettes and styling approaches that make each one a favourite.

“Every season I invest in a couple of new Alpha60 staples which end up on high rotation for months, and often years on end. This season it's the Keiran Pants in both black, and Espresso. I love the way they sit and they are so durable, and so comfortable. I chose to pair this with the Gracie Knit Cardi in Navy for layering and warmth. This look is topped off perfectly with the Sable Coat which is the perfect grab and go jacket to get you through a busy day of propping, meetings, racing around from here to there, to then end your day with a friend for a wine.”

“I fell in love with the Anderson Coat in Cascade, the moment I saw it. The iridescent fabric is incredible and changes from navy to charcoal in different light. Dramatic but not ostentatious.”

“After receiving my first pay-check from a freelance art-writing job in 2018, I went straight to Alpha60 and bought a coat—the first investment in my professional wardrobe. The Leigh Coat is the perfect addition—100% wool with a sleek longline silhouette. I love wearing mine with a pop of colour."

“I chose the Julius Trench, as this is a lighter palette for me. I was thinking about the winter sun and keeping things light and optimistic. It was the perfect daytime art opening outfit for my exhibition at Michael Reid Northern Beaches, casual but polished.”

“The all-black look is completely out of character for me, but the moment I tried on the Adrienne skirt, I was hooked. It's giving "having your shit together" vibes, even if you don't. The tailored skirt and the Black Denver Bomber create the tension I seek in my outfits. I’m low-key obsessed.”
