Knitwear Care Guide

Our knitwear is crafted from carefully selected, high-quality yarns. With gentle care, each piece will maintain its softness, shape, and finish for years to come. Knitwear is naturally more delicate than woven fabrics, so handling with care helps preserve its quality.

Most of our knits are made from 100% merino wool, prized for its exceptional softness and comfortable, non-itch feel against the skin. Merino is naturally breathable and temperature regulating, keeping you warm in cooler conditions and comfortable when it is warmer.

Some styles use yarns blended with other natural or synthetic fibres. These blends enhance durability, colour retention, and resistance to pilling, while remaining warm, breathable, and well suited to everyday wear.

Washing

Wool knits do not require frequent washing. Often, airing between wears is enough to refresh the garment. When washing is needed, gently hand wash in cold water and turn the garment inside out to help prevent snagging, unless the care label specifies dry clean only.

  • Hand wash in cold water
  • Use a gentle detergent suitable for wool
  • Avoid soaking, machine washing, or warm water as this can shrink the garment
  • Do not bleach or use harsh chemicals

Drying

Knitwear may shrink or fibres may retract when exposed to heat or agitation. To help the garment return to shape, gently stretch while damp and dry flat.

  • Always dry flat
  • Do not hang
  • Avoid tumble drying
  • Reshape while drying

Snagging & Shedding

Wool knitwear is naturally delicate and should be handled with care to maintain its shape and finish.

  • Store knitwear folded rather than hung to prevent stretching
  • Take care around jewellery, bags, and abrasive surfaces to avoid snagging
  • Some shedding is normal, particularly when the garment is new
  • Avoid lint or dust rollers, as adhesive can pull fibres and increase pilling
  • Use a clothing brush to gently remove dust and surface fibres

Pilling

Pilling is a natural characteristic of wool and occurs as fibres move and rub together with wear.

  • Most noticeable in high-friction areas such as underarms, seams, and contact points with bags or jackets
  • Can be easily maintained with regular, gentle care
  • Use a pilling comb or de-piller lightly to lift pills from the surface
  • Avoid pressing too hard or rubbing, as this can damage fibres and increase pilling over time
