Linen Care Guide

Linen has a naturally textured look and feel and is highly breathable and absorbent, making it comfortable to wear in warmer weather. While it may feel slightly crisp when new, linen softens over time with wear, washing, and steaming, becoming more relaxed and comfortable the more it is worn.

Washing

Linen softens with wear, so washing less is recommended.

  • Cold hand wash separately
  • Wash inside out
  • Use a gentle or wool wash liquid detergent
  • Do not spot clean, soak, rub, or wring
  • Never use fabric softener

Always refer to the individual care label before washing.

Drying

Handle gently to maintain shape and finish.

  • Do not tumble dry
  • Dry away from direct sunlight
  • Warm iron on reverse, avoiding heavy pressure
  • A steamer can be used to remove light creasing and relax the fabric

Shrinkage

Linen fabrics are pre-washed to help minimise shrinkage.

  • Some fibre movement may occur after washing
  • Iron or steam once dry to help the garment return to shape

Spot Cleaning

Spot cleaning can affect colour and finish.

  • Avoid spot cleaning, as chemicals or rubbing can lift dye
  • Avoid drying in direct sunlight, as this can fade colour or cause yellowing
  • Do not use spot-cleaning products on white linen
  • Spot cleaners can cause yellowing over time
  • A gentle overall wash is the safest option for white linen garments
