Puffer & Down Garments Care Guide

Puffer jackets are designed to keep you warm and cosy, and with a little thoughtful care, they will do so for many seasons. Due to their construction and filling, puffer jackets do not require frequent washing. In fact, washing less helps maintain their shape and performance over time.

Washing

Puffer jackets should be washed sparingly and handled gently.

  • Spot clean with a damp cloth where possible
  • Wash only once a season
  • Cold hand wash, inside out, with a gentle wool wash detergent
  • Close all zips and fastenings before washing
  • Do not use fabric softener, powder detergent, or bleach
  • Gently move the water with your hands to dissolve detergent and lightly wipe any marks with a cloth
  • Rinse thoroughly until the water runs clear
  • Gently squeeze out excess water without wringing
  • You can use your washing machine on the lowest spin cycle to help remove some excess water

Drying

Puffer jackets take longer to dry due to their thickness.

  • Allow extra drying time and ensure the jacket is completely dry before storing
  • Always lay flat to dry
  • Gently shake or tap the jacket to redistribute the down
  • A hair dryer on a cool setting can help re-fluff the filling if needed
  • Do not iron or dry clean

Maintenance

Simple care helps extend the life of your puffer jacket.

  • Air out or wash before storing for warmer months
  • This helps prevent marks or stains from setting over time
  • Store away from direct sunlight to protect elastic
  • Stretched elastic can usually be replaced by a tailor
  • Feathers may occasionally poke through, which is normal
  • Gently push feathers back inside, do not pull them out
