Wool & Outerwear Care Guide

Our wool coats and jackets are crafted from carefully selected, high-quality materials. With the right care, they are designed to look and feel beautiful for years to come.

Our range includes wool coats and blazers made using a variety of fabrics and techniques to achieve a refined fit and finish. We particularly love our double-faced flannel styles, created by weaving two layers together or brushing both sides of a thick wool for a soft, velvety texture. Naturally warm and substantial, these styles are unlined, offering comfort, versatility, and ease of layering.

Washing

Wool coats require professional care to maintain their structure and finish.

  • Dry clean only
  • Dry clean at the end of each winter season before storage
  • Between wears, use a clothing brush to remove dust, hair, or lint
  • Avoid lint rollers or sticky tape, as they can leave residue
  • Do not wash at home, as water can damage internal layers and affect shape
  • For small stains, gently blot rather than rubbing and leave treatment to your dry cleaner
  • Cleaning before storage helps deter moths

Storage

Proper storage helps maintain the shape and longevity of wool coats.

  • Hang on a sturdy wooden hanger with wide shoulders
  • This supports the coat’s weight and prevents shoulder and sleeve distortion
  • Ensure the coat is completely dry before storing
  • Use cedar blocks to keep garments fresh and help deter moths

Pilling

Pilling is a natural characteristic of wool fibres.

  • Occurs as fibres move and rub together with wear
  • Most common in high-friction areas such as underarms, seams, and contact with bags or jackets
  • A normal part of wearing wool and not a fault in the fabric
  • Use a pilling comb or de-piller lightly to remove pills
  • Avoid pressing or rubbing too hard, as this can damage fibres and increase pilling
